Android powered bathroom mirror

Max Braun, a Google engineer, built android powered bathroom mirror and replaced his old mirror. At the top left of the mirror, a weather app sits with a brief detail of today’s forecast, while the top right offers the time and date. Below both of those notifications, rests recent news headlines via Associated Press that can give him a heads up on what’s happening in the world.

How did he put all of this together? Braunordered a two-way mirror, an ASUS 15.6″ display panel, a 40-pin LCD controller board and then picked up some components and arts and crafts supplies, which included a push-to-activate momentary switch and some terminals. With his engineering expertise, Braun was able to put it all together and push Android apps into view on the ASUS screen. If you want to see a little bit more of how he created his slick mirror display, you can visit his blog which contains a few extra details.

The mirror display is not quite complete, as he intends to add to the available on-screen content, like traffic reports, reminders, and other Google Now card services over time. Still, the evolving product is mostly complete, and it’s sure to be something that many other fans of in-home tech will want to try to reproduce on their own.
